The 1900 Federal Census, Florida, Hamilton Co., White Springs, District 41, page 286A records James T. (April 1868) and Mollie (May 1868) Rawls. Also in the household are John A. Rawls (Oct 1869 - brother) and nephews Alvah H. (Feb 1885) and John L. (Mar 1879) Jones.

The 1910 Federal Census, Virginia, Nansemond Co., Holy Neck, District 12, page 153A records John A. (39) and Callie (38) Rawles with children James (9), Lorillard (12), Addison (6), and Margaret (2). John and Callie have been married 10 years. This is the 2nd marriage for John and 1st for Callie. This census records Callie's parents as being born in Connecticut and Maryland. All other census records record Virginia for both.

The 1920 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., Va. (ED 19, page 14B) records John Rawles (49) with wife Callie (49). Their children are listed as James (19), Addison (15), Margaret (11), and John L. (22). James and John are born in Florida and all others in Virginia. John is a son by first wife, Lora May. Interesting to note that all household members are recorded as of the "Black" race.

The 1930 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., Va. Holy Neck District 8, page 138A taken April 30, 1930 records John A. (60) and Mrs. John A. (60) Rawles with son James (28) and his wife Mary L. (25).
