Denton Isaac Ashworth, 90, of Rocky Mount, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at his home. He was born May 10, 1914, a son of the late Emmit and Dorinda Ashworth and was also preceded in death by a sister, Eva Bohn; three brothers-in-law, George Bohn, Urias Beeghly, Thomas Brubaker; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Ashworth and Myrtle Brubaker. Mr. Ashworth was a retired dairy farmer and a lifelong member of Antioch Church of the Brethren. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Gladys Brubaker Ashworth; his son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Amy Ashworth; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Matthew and Bradley; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Howard Ashworth of Quinter Kansas, Albert and Eva Ashworth of Rocky Mount, George and Armella Ashworth of Parker, Kansas; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nellie Soyars, Mary Beeghly, Velma and Gene Meador, Sevilla and Paul Bower all of Rocky Mount; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Antioch Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Frank B. Layman, Jr. and Pastor Tom Powers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Rd., Rocky Mount, 24151. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday with his family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, South Main St., Rocky Mount.
