Obituary in the Linn County News - Published June 30, 2010 George H. Ashworth, age 83, of Parker, Kan., died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Manor Care in Overland Park, Kan. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, June 28, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mound City, Kan. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City. The family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, c/o Coffel-Schneider, Box J, Mound City, Kan., 66056. Arrangements: Coffel-Schneider, Mound City. The following information was submitted to be added by (Fort Scott Girl) George was the son of George E. and Dorinda Bowman Ashworth. He was an Army Veteran of World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Armella Richmeier on December 31, 1949 at St Peter, Kansas. To this union, six children were born. He worked as a diesel mechanic before retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus St Philippine Council #7446. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eva Bohn, and Nellie Soyars (Memorial # 37780383) and two brothers, Denton Ashworth and Howard "Shorty" Ashworth (Memorial # 21153610). He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Armella; five daughters: Patricia Borst and Ron, Kathryn Rhoads and Hal, Sandra Vielhauer and Pete, Sherry Graham and Ted, Mary Ellen Bramhall and Chris; a son Daniel Ashworth and Willa; fifteen grand and fifteen great grandchildren.
George married Armella Richmeier, daughter of Frank J. Richmeier and Katharina Wasinger, on 31 Dec 1949 in St. Peter, Kansas. (Armella Richmeier was born on 29 Jan 1932 in Kansas and died after 2010 in Kansas.)
