Bluefield Daily Telegraph - (Mar/4/2004) Mrs. Opal Wimmer Blankenship PRINCETON - Mrs. Opal Wimmer Blankenship, 84, of Quail Valley Drive (Quail Valley Estate), Princeton, died peacefully early Monday morning, March 1, 2004 at her residence.
Born July 20, 1919 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Bud William and Flossie Winfrey Wimmer.
Educated in Mercer County, she was a life long resident, a member of the Kegley United Methodist Church, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Blankenship; along with two sons, Kenneth Larry Blankenship and Skippy Ray Blankenship; three brothers, B.W., Ralph and Hayden Wimmer; and two sisters, Lucille Sizemore and Joanne Stinnette.
Those left to cherish her memory: Her two sons, Shelby Blankenship and wife Dottie of Princeton, Dwight Blankenship of Marsing, Idaho; three grandchildren, Greg Blankenship and wife Reshinda, Lisa Montgomery, and Lynda Matos and husband Julio; eight great grandchildren, Brandi, Danielle, Andrew, Nicholas, Julia, Kassidy, Kristian and Derek; special caregivers, Reshinda Blankenship and the Mountaineer Home nursing staff.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. today from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with the Revs. Gary Swogger, Paul Hall and C.T. Lilly Jr. officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton, in the Garden of Good Shepherd, second entrance.
Friends may call today from 7 p.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Larry and Jerry Wimmer, Josh and Jared Jessee, Tommy Stinnette and Troy Machnic.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Dishner and Danny Barie.
The family of Opal Blankenship is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
