Melvin Jacob Dice, Jr., 67, of Dillsburg, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, March 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born September 9, 1945, in Carlisle, the son of the late Melvin J. Dice Sr. and Anne (Koran) Dice.
Melvin retired after 43 years with A T & T, where he worked as a communication technician. He attended Cumberland Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Dillsburg and was a member of the NRA and the Dillsburg American Legion, Post #26. He was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, class of 1963. Melvin served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany on a missile site.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lucy L. (White) Dice; one son, Joseph M. Dice of Dillsburg; two daughters, Jennifer R. Covert and her husband Jon of Dillsburg and Rebecca E. Dice of Dillsburg; three brothers, Michael R. of Harrisburg, James R. of Enola, John E. of Carlisle; and one sister, Mary K. Phillips of South Carolina. He also leaves behind three grandsons, Corey, Kaleb, and Jacob. Melvin was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph L. Dice.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 11:00 am in his church, 1071 York Rd., Dillsburg with his pastor the Rev. Fred Miller officiating. Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dillsburg with full military honors. A viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 pm at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg.
