Lavinia

  General Notes:

In papers from North Carolina, Wills and Probate Records, dated Dec 17, 1886, Lavinia Doughtie made her will bequething "to Maggie E. Doughtie and William J. Doughtie [step children] of the County of Gates and State of North Carlina all my chattle estate and personal property with the exception of one bed that I give to Sarah L. Howell (daughter of Richard Howell). If Mrs. Elizabeth Corte and Miss Nannie Howell are living with me at my death and working as they have worked this year, they are to have 150 lbs of meat and two barrells of corn each or its value."
The 25th of February, 1905, "A paper purporting to be the lat will and testament of Lavinia Doughtie decd is exhibited in open court for probate by Wm J. Doughtie one of the legaties therein named ..."
The court approved the document as the valid will and testament of Lavinia Doughtie.

Lavinia married Jesse Doughtie, son of Nathaniel Doughtie and Alcy Hoggard, circa 1875 in Gates Co, N.C. (Jesse Doughtie was born circa 1821 in Gates Co., N.C. and died in 1884 in Gates Co., N.C..)
