bullet  General Notes:

The WWI Draft Registration for George Clodian St. Leonard Oxley dated June 5, 1917 in Harrisburg, PA records his date of birth as May 28, 1894 in Trinidad and Tobago, British West Indies. He is single and working as an Insurance Agent for National Benefit Ass. in Harrisburg. He is of African descent and served in the Cadet Corp as a Private in Trinidad. He is medium height and slender build with brown eyes and black hair.

It appears that George went to Toronto to attend The University of Toronto; however, the rest of his family was in Harrisburg, PA: The 1920 Federal Census for Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., PA, District 202, page 200B, dated January 16, 1920 records James E. T. Oxley (34 - Trinidad) with his wife Idellan M. Oxley (33 - PA/PA/PA) living at 8 South 16th Street. Also in the household are James' widowed mother Laura O. Oxley (65 - Trinidad) and his siblings Helena M. Oxley (27 - Trinidad) and Reginald M. D. Oxley (29 - Trinidad). In addition there is James' sister-in-law Daisy Oxley (24 - Trinidad). Daisy is Reginald's wife. James is a Medical Physician in General Practice.

The WWII Draft Registration Card (for men born on or after April 28, 1877 and on or before February 16, 1897) for George Leonard Oxley dated April 27, 1942 lists his date of birth as May 28, 1894 in Trinidad, British West Indies. He is living with his wife, Mrs. Ethel F. Oxley, at 631 Boas Street. He is working at that same address as a Physician. His physical description is 5' 11", 180 lbs with blue eyes, gray hair and light complexion. The physical descrition attached to this record is obvisously not referencing Dr. Oxley since he is of African descent. Also that registration page is recorded in Pittsburgh, PA. The next page over in the digital listing is likely the correct record: physical description is 5' 6", 162 lbs with black eyes, black hair and black complexion and is recorded in Harrisburg, PA.
