(62-Granville) and siblings Lucy Jane (30-Southampton / Lady), Peter (21-Southampton), Laura Jane (12-Southampton), and Florence O. (7-Southampton). John is rather wealthy farmer with real estate valued at $11,000 and personal property at $40,000 including 49 slaves. Additional research, including the 1850 census record, supports the conclusion that Lucy Jane Mathews is the younger sister of former wife Mary E. The 1870 Federal Census for Virginia, Southampton Co., Drewryville records W. B. Person (20-Farmer) living alone with real estate valued at $2,000 and personal property at $500.

The 1880 Federal Census for Virginia, Southampton Co., Boykins, Drewryville District, ED# 102 page 226A records W. B. (30) and Bettie N. (26) Person with children Fannie V. (6), Alice G. (4), and Jos W. (2). Nearby are John and Peter (33) Person, possible brothers of W. B.
