Stephen Lee Dodd, 60, of Salem, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, James Preston Dodd and Kathryn Oyler Dodd. Steve was born and lived his life in Salem. Steve is survived by his wife, Susie and their daughter, Emily; brother, Jim Dodd and his wife, Sue; sisters, Judy Mays and her husband, Charles, Barbara Hall and her husband, Henry. He is also survived by nephews, Brian Hall and Jonathan Mays; nieces, Jaqueline Lee and Stephanie Steele; in-laws, Leo and Nancy McMahon, Kathy and Mitch West and Nancy Ellen McMahon. Steve was a graduate of Glenvar High School and attended Virginia Tech. He was a skilled cabinet maker for twenty-five years and worked for Virginia Fiberglass Products for the past eight years. For many years, Steve played Guitar with Trucker's Delight. He was happiest when playing music. Steve also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and being outside. He found solace outside with nature. Steve's daughter, Emily was the light of his life. He was so proud of her, and loved her with all of his heart. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at Lotz Salem Chapel on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 7 p.m. followed by a gathering of friends.
