Dr. George Beale was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania Medical School, served at Pittsburgh, PA., General Hospital during the Civil War years. After the Civil War, his father bought land in Pamplin, Appomatox County, VA., and George and his brother Robert settled there. After George's father's death in 1881, George returned to Chester County, PA. with his family. Robert stayed Virginia.

The 1870 Federal Census for the Southside Township, Appomatox Co., Virginia, Pamplin Depot records George F. (27 - PA) and Mary D. (25 - PA) Beale with children Horace A. (2 - PA) and Joseph R. (10/12 - VA). Also in the household is Robert W. Beale (25 - PA). George is a Physician and Robert attends to the farm.

The 1900 Federal Census for Caln Township, Chester Co., PA, District 51, page 9A records George F. (58 - PA/PA/PA) and Mary D. (55 - NY/PA/PA) Beale (indexed as Beals).
