Obituary from the Lynchburg News & Advance, February 16, 2009:
Virginia "Nanu" Adkins Hutcherson, 83, of Madison Heights, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at her residence. For 46 years, she was the wife of the late James Edward "Runt" Hutcherson Sr., who passed away on Feb. 29, 2000.

She was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late William Royal Adkins Sr. and the late Lucille Herndon Adkins Justice. She was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church and the Madison Heights Rebecca Lodge. She had been formerly employed by Huss Co., the Pettyjohn Shoe Co. and Job Corp.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Royal Adkins Jr.; and by one great-grandson, Dylan Bryant.

She is survived by one son, James Edward "Jimmy" Hutcherson Jr. of Madison Heights; one daughter, Luanne H. Mayhugh and husband, Gene, of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Bridget Bryant and husband, Lloyd, Tabitha Kreuziger and husband, Raymond, both of Madison Heights, Angie Hutcherson of Japan, and James Michael Hutcherson and Lorie May Hutcherson, both of Madison Heights; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nickolas and Hannah Bryant and Mickenly and Keely Kreuziger, all of Madison Heights; a sister-in-law, Pat Adkins of N.C.; and her beloved pet, Jackson.

Special thanks to Bridget and Denise for the wonderful care given to Nanu during her illness these past few weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Dr. Timothy Madison. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Feb. 16, 2009, at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Hills or the American Cancer Society.
