The 1930 Federal Census for Martinsville, Va. District 10, page 264 A records Eleanor S. Nunn (15) living with her widowed Aunt Mannie [Minnie Nunn] Thomasson (53) at 227 Graveley Street. Also in the household are Minnie's children, Bradie [Brodie] B. (24) and Lewis (11). A few pages over in the census record (page 259A) is her future husband, Henry D. Byrd.
It should be noted that Aunt Minnie Thomasson (sister of Eleanor's father, John William Nunn) is the widow of Archer Thomasson of Reed Creek, Henry Co., Va. Archer and Minnie are recorded in the 1910 Federal Census for Snow Creek, Franklin Co., Va, District 46 with children George and Brodie: Archer C. (38), Minnie S. (32), George C. (10), Brodie B. (4). The 1900 Federal Census for Reed Creek, Henry Co., Va. District 55, page 156A records Archer (Jan 1872) and Minnie S. (April 1877) with son Clifton G. (Sept 1899). The 1920 Federal Census for Snow Creek, Franklin Co., Va, District 62, page 231A records Archer C. (48) and Minnie S. (43) Thompson (sic) [Thomasson] with children G. Clifton (20), Brodie B. (14), and Lewis W. (1 6/12). An ancestry.com family tree indicates Minnie is Minnie S. Nunn. The 1880 Federal Census for Henry Co., Va., District 131 records Minnie S. Nunn (3) living with her parents Lewis M. (30) and Louisa (28) Nunn and siblings Cenis E. (8) and John W. (6). They are next door to Elkanah (33) and Martha F. (34) [Frances] Byrd. All the above directs a conclusion to Eleanor's father as John W. Nunn which was confirmed by Sandra Hodges after consultation with her mom, Bettie Jane Byrd Hodges Tirmenstein. Eleanor married Henry Dyer Byrd, son of Elkanah Marshall Byrd and Lillie Belle Draper, on 4 Jul 1930 in Spencer, Henry Co, VA. (Henry Dyer Byrd was born on 6 Mar 1911, died on 29 Dec 1968 in Duval Co., Florida and was buried in Buried in Jacksonville, Florida.)
