Clayburn Crummett, 87, a retired Swoope famrmer, died Saturday (Oct. 27) at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born Sept 5, 1903, at Headwaters, a son of William Lewis and Martha Jane Armstrong Crummett. He was the oldest member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, Churchville. On May 23, 1938, he married Mary Daughtrey, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William Vance Crummett and Zane Leroy Crummett, both of Swoope; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Claybourne married Mary Louise Daughtrey, daughter of William Jasper Daughtrey and Viola Rawls Daughtrey, on 23 May 1938. (Mary Louise Daughtrey was born on 7 May 1918 in Nansemond Co, VA, died on 9 Mar 2010 in Staunton, Augusta Co., VA and was buried in Headwaters Cemetery, Bethel, Highland County, Virginia.)
