Capt. Jason Holland

  General Notes:

The 1840 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., Va. lists Jason Holand (30-40) with a wife (30-40) and 3 sons and 4 daughters.

The 1850 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., VA records Jason Holland (45) without a wife. He has four children listed: Irene (18), Martha E. (14), Oliver H. P. (12), and Marcilla (6). Josiah Cutchins is living in the household. Marcilla is actually the son of Hiiliard Holland and Martha Eliza Lee.
Emily C. Daughtrey wrote of three of the children of Jason & Ora Holland: William, Marcella, and Perry [who was Oliver Hazard Perry Holland, killed in the Civil War]. The 1850 census records above a Marcilla Holland, age 6, which appears to be the daughter of Hilliard and Martha Holland (see notes on Marcella Holland). Perhaps Hilliard and Martha had a son, William, and all three had died by 1850.

Jason married Ora Holland. (Ora Holland was born circa 1805 in Virginia and died circa 1848 in Nansemond Co, VA..)
