Elizabeth Holland is listed as age 80 in the 1850 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., Va., page 189. She is living next door to her daughter Matilda Holland and her family as well as the Robert & Margaret Daughtrey family. Matilda (44) is married to James R. (45) Holland and has children John T. (15), Joseph R. (11), Jason (9), and Etheldred (12). Robert (47) and Margaret (30) Daughtrey are parents of Catherine S. (14), Julia A. (10), Martha J. (4), and James E. (2). They will have sons Abram (born 1855) and Mathew (born 1856), who will become next door neighbors of Eley Daughtrey some 25 years from this 1850 record.
The 1860 Federal Census for the Upper Parish, Nansemond Co., VA, Suffolk P. O., records James R. (52) and Matilda (50) Holland with children Jason Holland (17) and Joseph R. Holland (21), and Mary E. Holland (17). James has real estate valued at $1,250 and a personal estate at $500.
Betsy married John David Holland, son of Capt. Joseph Holland Jr. and Ester Edmunds. (John David Holland was born circa 1757 in Nansemond Co, VA. and died circa 1828 in Nansemond Co, VA..)
