According to the Shirk Family History by Henry Yocom Shirk written in 1914, page 89 through 93:
Sarah Shirk, a daughter of Ulrich and Mariah (Eberley) Shirk, was born in West Cocalico township, Lancaster county, Pa., Nov. 26, 1801; married Andrew Wissler of Lancaster county, Pa. He was born March 11, 1801. They were married Sept. 12, 1822. After their marriage they engaged in farming and merchandizing for many years near Schoeneck, Lancaster county, Pa. Moved to Stark county, Ohio, in 1845, where they engaged in the manufacture of flour, near Canton, Ohio. Later moved to Montcalm county, Mich., where they both died. Andrew died Dec. 1876, Sarah died July, 1877. To their union were born eight children, three sons and five daughters: Andrew, born Sept. 22, 1823. His first marriage was to Miss Shirk of Schoeneck, Lancaster county, PA. She died soon after their marriage, when he married Miss Barbara Baker, of Wayne county, Ohio. This union, brought him seven children: Mary, born Oct. 8, 1850; married Thomas Longdorf, and there were to them born Minnie to Frank Whitmore, Thomas and Charles Longdorf. Sarah, born Nov. 22, 1851; died Aug. 1, 1859. Elizabeth, born March 15, 1854, married Samuel Longdorf, of Sterling, Ohio; no children. Fremont, born Oct. 4, 1856; married Bertha Fisher of Sterling, Ohio. Jacob, born Dec. 21, 1861; married Emma Galloway of Seville, Ohio. Minnie, born May 20, 1854; married Ernest Earl, one child born to them. Howard, May, 1896.

Wm., born Jan., 1, 1857; married Isa Fortney; to them was born one child, Merle C., April 8, 1888. Anna, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born Feb. 24, 1825; married Andrew Whisler Nov. 27, 1845. Mr. Whisler was born Oct. 31, 1820. To them were born: Permelia, June 2, 1852, Samatha, March 29, 1854; married May 1876 to E. T. Kent, they are the parents of two children. Edith, May 1873, to Maurice Shaw, one son born to them, Harold Shaw, 1899. Orie Whisler, born July 29, 1855; married Chas. A. Simpson. Loretta, born March 9, 1858, died Feb. 1882; was married to James Cargill. Viola, born Jan. 13, 1850; married Owen Evans. To them were born: Anna, 1879; Dora, 1881, died. 1897. Grace, born 1885, residing at Lowell, Mich. Horace Whisler, born Sept. 13, 1862, died Feb. 1896. Manelia, born Aug. 27, 1865, died Feb. 1898.

Jacob S. Wissler, son of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born in Lancaster county, Pa., June 30, 1827; married Miss Leah Keller, Dec. 1844. Leah Keller born 1827. Soon after their marriage in Lancaster county, Pa., they moved with his parents to Stark county, Ohio. They were the parents of three children (the youngest dying in infancy): Ezra, born 1847; married Minnie Sell, and are the parents of one daughter, Elizabeth. Ezra is residing in Canton, Ohio.

Jacob, Jr., born Aug. 28, 1851; married Miss Philopena Ballinger. To them was born a daughter Catherine, July 1888. Again married to Orie Whisler Simpson. Daughter died in infancy. Jacob married his third wife in Canton Ohio, a native of Germany. His address at present unknown.

Marie Wissler, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born May 7, 1830; married Oct. 17, 1851 to Jacob Cornwell. To them were born Monroe, Jan. 23, 1853; married Jan. 1875 to Miss Kilgore. To them being born Jane, May 1877; Mable, Oct. 1879; Monroe, Jan. 1885; Lizzie M., born June 10, 1858 ; married Dec. 1877 to J. E. Galone. Sarah A., born Jan. 11, 1850; married Jan. 1880 to Henry Ballow. To them were born Maude, March 1882 ; Delos, Jan. 1884, died Sept., 1884; Kate, May 1885; Dora, March, 1889; Henry, Nov., 1892; Willis J., born Jan. 23, 1852; married Feb. 1891 to Anna Fridle. To them being born: Willis, July, 1892; Mildred, born Aug. 1895; Helen, born Oct., 1895.

Franklin, born Feb., 1864; married June 30, 1882 to Ella Clapperton. To them were born: John, Oct., 1889; Jane, Feb., 1893.

Sarah Wissler, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born April 19, 1833 married Jacob S. Brillhart, Dec. 27, 1849. To them, were born John H., Aug. 7, 1850; married Jennie Hiest July 3, 1870. To them were born: Arthur, May 17, 1873 ; Guy L., March 4, 1875; married April 15, 1900, they being the parents of Irma, May 29, 1903; Lee F., May 1, 1877; married March 6, 1902. Bertha, born Nov. 9,1882.

Andrew J. Brillhart, second son of Jacob and Sarah Wissler Brillhart, born June 28, 1852; married Ida F. Lyle, March 18, 1887. They were the parents of: Stella, born and died Jan. 1888; Samuel, born Sept. 5, 1889; Gertrude E., born July 8, 1894, died 1895.

Willis Brillhart, son of Jacob and Sarah Wissler Brillhart, born March 28, 1858, died Nov, 11, 1860.

Ella Brillhart, daughter of Jacob and Sarah Wissler Brillhart, born July 24, 1884; married Clayton Carpenter, March 5, 1885. To them were born: Nellie, Sept, 21, 1887; Rhoda, Dec. 27, 1890; Clara, Aug. 12, 1893. [They] Reside at New Berlin, Stark county, Ohio.

Elizabeth Wissler, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born in Lancaster county, Pa., Dec. 18, 1840; married March 28, 1863 to John Schouten. To them were born: Nora, April 7, 1864, died Oct. 1865; Maria, Feb. 25, 1865; married Nov. 22, 1899 to James Barclay. Perry, Aug. 15, 1887. Orie, Aug. 31, 1871; married Dec. 26, 1894 to John Carlsen. To them were born: Henry, Nov. 18, 1897. [They] Reside [in] Tecumseh, Mich. Mary, born Sept. 11, 1873. Jane, born Aug 21, 1877; married March 18, 1900 to George Barclay. Jay, born Dec, 7, 1879.

Elias Wissler, son of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born Sept. 14, 1835. Married; no children.

Lacy Wissler, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler, born July 26, l842. Married Christian Shutt, 1867. To this union were born: Herman W., Nov. 9, 1867; married August 30, 1898 to Mabel E. Adams. To them were born Christian A., Alma Loraine, Dorlisca Augusta, Elias W., born Dec. 23, 1868; married July 1, 1892 to Ella Mollet. To them were born Lester C. and Ella May.

William C., born July 18, 1870; married July 3, 1896 to Anna M. C. Hornburg, to them were born Ruth E., Ludwig, and W. Christian.

Sarah Shutt born Feb. 7, 1872; married March 20, 1889 to Geo. L. Clark. To them were born Elmer L., Leroy C., Leo J.

Mary Shutt, born Sept 3, 1873; died Feb. 21, 1882.

Maria Shutt, born Jan . 13, 1875; died Feb. 12, 1882.

Derana Shutt, born Nov. 23, 1876; died July 5, 1877.

Elizabeth Shutt, born May 16, 1878; died Feb. 6, 1882.

Dewitt Clinton Shutt, born April 1, 1880; married March 8, 189 [1899] to Susan Schwartz. [The 1900 Federal Census records Dewitt Shuut (April 1880 - Mich/Germany/PA) married for 1 year to Susie (Nov 1882 - Mich/PA/Ireland)] To them were born Marian A., May L. Shutt, born May 15, 1882. This concludes the Andrew and Sarah Shirk Wissler family, which was nearly all extracted from the Wissler Genealogy.



The 1870 Federal Census for Greenville, Montcalm County, Michigan records Andrus (69 - PA) and Sarah (69 - PA) Wissler with their son Elias (36 - PA) and his wife Mary (36 - Ohio) and son Owen (8 - Michigan). Next door is Andrus and Sarah's daughter Sarah Wissler (45 - PA) and her husband Andrew Wissler (49 - Ohio) [Henry Y. Shirk's Family Hiustory cited above states the daughter as Anna and her husband spells the surname as Whisler] and their children Orrie (14 - Ohio), Loretta (12 - Ohio), Viola (11 - Ohio), Horace (8), Manela (6 - Ohio), and Permelia (17 - Ohio). Note: The 1900 Federal Census for Vergennes, Kent Co., Michigan, District 109 records the widower Andrew Whisler (Nov 1820 - Ohio/PA/PA) with his widowed daughter Permillia Whisler (June 1852 - Ohio/Ohio/PA)


The 1860 Federal Census for Greenville, Montcalm County, Michigan records Andrew (59 - PA) and Sarah (59 - PA) Wissler with their children Lizzie (20 - PA), Lucy (17 - PA), and Eli (25 - PA) and his wife Mary (26 - Michigan). Andrew has real estate valued at $300 and a personal estate valued at $600. Andrew is the Post Master and Eli is a Miller.

Sarah married Andrew Wissler on 12 Sep 1822 in Lancaster Co., PA. (Andrew Wissler was born on 11 Mar 1801 in Lancaster Co., PA and died in Dec 1876 in Montcalm County, Michigan.)
