The 1850 Federal Census for Manheim, Lancaster Co., Pa. (page 338) records Samuel (65) and Polly (55) with children Eliza (16), Catherine (9), Henry (17), Daniel (19), Rudy (15), and Levi (20). Polly [Mary] is Samuel's second wife and these children are by her. Henry is Henry Yocom Shirk who is the author of the Shirk Family Genealogy published in 1914.
The 1860 Federal Census for Ephrata, Lancaster Co., Pa. (page 270) records Samuel (74) and Mary (64) with children Daniel (28), Rudy (25), and Catherine A. (19).
