Published in Pensacola News Journal on July 1, 2010 DONALD P. MADDOX, SR. SEPTEMBER 3, 1928 - JUNE 29, 2010 Donald P. Maddox, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Mr. Maddox was born in Opp, AL and has resided in Milton, FL for the last 41 years. He was preceded in death by his father, David Pierce Maddox; mother, Bonnie Plant Maddox; brothers, Arthur Clifton Maddox and Henry Prelo Maddox; and son, Kevin Richard Maddox. Mr. Maddox retired from the US Navy after 22 years of service as an Aviation Electronic Technician/Radio Operator. Although he was attached to many squardrons over the years, his favorite was the VW4 Hurricane Hunters. After retiring from the military, Mr. Maddox owned and operated Gulf Coast Enterprises for 13 years. He was an avid Alabama fan. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife of 58 years, Teresa Lydon Maddox; sons, Donald P. Maddox, Jr. of Milton and Daniel P. (Laura) Maddox of Pace; daughters, Kathy (Greg) Jernigan and Sheila (Greg) Johnson, both of Milton; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Nadine Maddox Giddens; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family gratefully acknowledges the recent care given by the staff of Sacred Heart Hospital. The family also thanks Drs. Wagner, Nashed, and Fleichauer for the outstanding care that he received the last several years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 1015 E. Brainerd St., Pensacola, Florida 32503. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, July 2, 2010 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Pastor Fred Rogers officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am prior to the service on Friday. Lewis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
