The 1900 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Pa. (ED#74, page 313BA) records Bertam (Mar 1873) and Emma Delaney (Jan 1875) with children Margaret (Apr 1896) and Paul (Aug 1897). Bertram is listed as a Stenographer. They are living at 541 Mary Street.

The 1910 Federal Census for Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, 34-Ward, District 826, page 209B records Alber B. [Bertam Elba] (35) and Emma (35) Delaney with children Margarett A. (13), Paul H. (12), and Myriam (8) living at 5831 Haverford Avenue. "Albert" is listed as a Doctor, M.D.

The WWI Draft Registration Card for Bertram Elba Delaney dated September 12, 1918 lists his date of birth as March 22, 1874. He is living with his wife, Emma S. Delaney at 4 Garfield Ave., Collingwood, Camden Co., NJ and is working as a Sales Manager at Elliot-Lewis Electrical Co. on 1017-21 Race Street in Philadelphia, PA. His physical description is medium height and build with brown eyes and gray hair.

The 1920 and 1930 Federal Census records the Bertran De Laney family living at 4 Garfield Avenue in Collingswood Borrough, Camden, New Jersey. In January 1920 daughter Marguerite (23) and son-in-law Henry T. (24) Lofft are living with the DeLaney family (children Paul H. (22) and Miriam E. (18)). The 1930 Federal Census for Collingswood, Camden Co., New Jersey, District 97, page 113A records Bertran (54) and Emma (50) DeLaney living at 6 Garfield Avenue near married daughter Miriam and her family.

The 1940 Federal Census for Collingswood, Camden Co., New Jersey, District 4-26, page 368B, dated April 20, 1940 records Bert (64 - NJ) and Emma (63 - NJ) DeLaney living at 6 Garfield Avenue near daughter Miriam and her family. Bert has completed 8 years of schooling as has Emma. Bert is a Credit Manager at the Electric Company having earned $2,250 during the last 52 weeks.

Bertram married Emma Susan Hagen, daughter of Edwin Walter (Watters) Hagen I and Margaret Ann (Maggie) Pearson, on 11 Jun 1895 in Olivet Baptist Church, Lancaster City, PA. (Emma Susan Hagen was born in Jan 1875 in Lancaster, PA, died on 2 Nov 1941 in Collingswood, N. J. and was buried in Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, New Jersey.) The cause of her death was Cause of death: Myocarditis.

Newspaper item on Wednesday , June 12, 1895 states - De Laney -- Hagen
A Pretty Ceremony on Tuesday Evening at the Olivet Baptist Church.
Mr. Betram E. De Laney, stenographer at the Henry Martin Brick machine Manufacturing
Company, was united in marriage on Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock, to Miss Emma S. Hagen, daughter of Mr. Edward W. Hagen, of 131 North Charlotte Street. The Wedding took place in the Olivet Baptist Church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Warren J. Johnson, of Lebanon, Pa., assisted by Rev. Charles F. McMann, pastor of the church. The couple were attended by Mr. William J. Eberly as best man and by the bride's half-sister Miss M. Elizabeth Baker, as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Bertha Eichheitz, Miss Bessie Briggs, Miss Lettie Smultz and Miss Lilliam Hershock., all of this city. The ushers were Messrs. Harry Lautz, Luther Obie, Jacob Hupper, and Frank Kendig, also all of this city. The wedding march was ably rendered by Miss Martha Givier as the bridal party entered the church, which was most beautifully decorated for the occasion. After the church ceremony, which was largely attended, a most delightful reception was given at the home of the bride's parents. The happy couple will make their home in Lancaster, and their address will be 308 West James Street.
