The 1900 Federal Census for the Leatherwood District, Henry Co., Virginia, District 51, page 88B records Albert (Aug 1849) and Susan R. (March 1856) Hankins with children John A. (Jan 1874), William D. (Jan 1876), Joseph H. (Oct 1880), Rosie M. (Aug 1883), Lawrence C. (Aug 1886), Willise R. (Jan 1889), Gravely C. (Oct 1894), and Fletcher (June 1878) with his wife Mary E. Hankins (March 1885).

The 1910 Federal Census for the Leatherwood District, Henry Co., Virginia, District 67, page 73B records Albert C. (60) and Susan R. (54) Hankins (indexed as Hawkins at ancestry.com) with children Willis (20), Rosa (25), Gravely (15), and Lucy (9). Albert and Suan have been married for 40 years and have had 12 children of whom 10 are still livng. Next door is Jos H. (27) with his wife Annie (24) and children Lula (4) and Lizzie (2).

The 1920 Federal Census for the Leatherwood District, Henry Co., Virginia, District 112, page 73B records the widow Susan R Hankins (64) with children Peyton S. (48), Willis R. (30), and Lucy E. (18). Next door are 2 sons and their families: Joe H. (39) and Annie L. (36) Hankins with children Lula M. (13), Lizzie M. (10), Sallie S. (8), Jean B. (6), and Joe A. (3) and Fletcher (42) and Mary E. (35) Hankins with children George D. (17), Lottie M. (13),a nd Aeres T. (8).

The 1930 Federal Census for the Leatherwood District, Henry Co., Virginia, District 7, page 11A records the widow Susan R Hankins (74) living with her daughter Lucy C. (29) and sons Peyton (57) and Willis (40) on the Lynchburg Road.

Hankins-Martin-Haley Cemetery, Old Graystone Community, Henry Co., Virginia: Directions: From Axton, Henry Co., Virginia, take Route 647 (Axton Road) North for about 7- miles. Turn left onto Route 612 (Hairfield Lane) and go about 3/10 of a mile. You'll pass a lone house on the right and the cemetery is at the end of the yard and only about 10-yards off the main road. Mr. Davis Hankins is the landowner. You should ask permission before going to the cemetery but if no one is home, it is Ok to go into the cemetery because it is on the side of the road. He does have two dogs that run loose in his yard, and they bark constantly.
