The 1860 U.S. Census for the Northern District of Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, Swansonville P. O., page 202, dated July 18, 1860 records Meredith B. (53) and Mary H. (53) Allen with children Young T. (24), Meredith (26), Darlin C. (20), Eagan P. (15), Clopton F. (12), Nancy (22), Luther B. (4), and Sally (3). Meredith is a farmer with real estate valued at $2,000 and a personal estate valued at $500.

The 1880 Federal Census for the Callands, Pittsylvania Co., VA, District 165, page 79A, dated June 12, 1880 records M. B. (72 - VA/VA/VA) and Mary H. (72 - VA/VA/VA) Allen. Also in the household is M. B. and Mary's son P. E. [Pollock Ealon] Allen (34) and his wife Mary V. Allen (30) and their children Adolphus C. (11), Jno L. (9), Barbary C. (7), W. (3), and Ida E. (1).
