It appears that by 1910, Chester Alexander has moved to Chicago, Illinois: The 1910 Federal Census for Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, Ward 32, District 1374, page 17A records Chester L. Alexander (40 - PA/PA/PA) with his wife, Mary (32 - PA/PA/PA) married 6 years. Chester is a Railroad Engineer.

The 1920 Federal Census for Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, Ward 32, District 1946, page 17A records Chester Alexander (48 - PA/PA/PA) and is listed as single. Chester is a Railroad Engineer.


In November 2008 Wilma Fauth Jones sent the following copy from a book on the Alexander Family of Lancaster, PA published ca 1922:
Chester Linden Alexander was born in Colemanville, Martic Township, February 22, 1871. He received his early education in the rural schools and later at Millersville Normal School. He was a teacher in the public schools for two terms. During the World's Fair he went to Chicago and served in the guard corps. Since 1893 he has been a railroad engineer, and for a number of years has been Secretary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Firemen and Engineers.
His address is 1638 Morgan Street Chicago. In politics he is a Democrat and religion a Methodist.

The 1940 Federal Census for San Jose, Santa Claraa Co., California, District 43-67, page 1037A, dated April 6, 1940 records Chester L. Alexander (60 - PA) and his wife Katherine Alexander (45 - SD) living with Katherine's widowed father, Thomas F. Murphy (75 - Michigan).
