In November 2008 Wilma Fauth Jones sent the following copy from a book on the Alexander Family of Lancaster, PA published ca 1922:
Maris E. Alexander was born September 2, 1872. [Maris' death certificate records his date of birth as September 5, 1871] He was educated in the common schools. He followed farming until 1901 when he entered the employ of the Bank of the Union Trust, Lancaster, as clerk. He is also interested in the Souder Construction Company which is extensively engaged in building state roads. His home is in Lancaster City, 435 South Queen St.

On October 25, 1897, he married Miss Jane K. Carrigan, who was educated in the Conestoga High School. She is a member of the Reformed Church.

In politics they are Prohibitionists.

They have no children.

The 1910 Federal Census for Lancaster City, PA, Ward 7, District 84, page 80A, records Maris Alexander (36) with his wife, Jennie K. (34) married for 12 years and no children. Maris is a messenger for a bank.

The 1920 Federal Census for Lancaster City, PA, Ward 7, District 72, page 80A, records Maris Alexander (45) with his wife, Jane E. [Jennie?] Alexander (42) with no children living at 435 South Queen Street. Maris is a messenger for a bank while Jennie works at a Department Store.

By 1930 it appears that Maris' wife, Jennie, has died and that Maris has remarried: The 1930 Federal Census for Lancaster City, PA, Ward 9, District 75, page 76A, records C. Morris (sic) Alexander (57 - PA/PA/PA) with his wife, Martha E. Alexander (45 - PA/PA/PA) with step son Don Thomas Bostic (22) living at 601 State Street. "Morris" is employed as a "Builder" in the "House Construction" Industry. "Morris" is first married at age 25 while Martha at age 21.
Note: Martha was previously married to Harry B. Bostic ca 1906. That family can be found in the 1910 Census in Lancaster City, PA, Ward 9, District 91, page 189A: Harry B. Bostic (27 - PA/PA/PA) with his wife Martha Bostic (25 - PA/PA/PA) and son Don (2 - PA) living at 118 Coral Street. Harry is a Salesman for a Clothing House.
