The 1880 Federal Census for Phoenixville, Chester Co., PA, District 86, page 258B, dated June 4,1880 records Andrew (59 - PA/Wertenberg/Wertenberg) and Catherine (46 - PA/PA/PA) Baitzel with children Andrew (13), Willie (9), and Joseph (3). Andrew works in a Machine Shop. Note: The birth place of Andrew's parents is hard to read but looks like Witenby ... and many others in that neighborhood have similar origins ... Wetenburg [Wurttemberg, Germany?].

The 1870 Federal Census for Phoenixville, Chester Co., PA, Phoenixville P. O., page 258B, dated July 13,1870 records Andrew (48 - PA) and Catherine (34 - PA) Barzel with children Margaret (13), Andrew (3), and Elizabeth (1). Andrew works as a Machinist.

The 1860 Federal Census for Phoenixville, Chester Co., PA, Phoenixville P. O., page 688, dated July 11,1860 records Andrew (36 - PA) and Elizabeth (30 - PA) Betzel with children Sarah (13), Christian (9), Mary J. (6), Eliza (4), and John (2). Note: Not sure if this is our Andrew Batzel.
However ... The 1850 Federal Census for Phoenixville, Chester Co., PA, page 196B, dated August 22,1850 records Andrew (30 - PA) and Elizabeth (25 - PA) Batzel with children Catherine (4) and Sarah (2). Thus it looks as though our Andrew was first married to an Elizabeth and had a family before he married Catherine Essick.
