The Federal Census of Phoenixville, Chester, PA. of 1860, 1870, and 1880 records Catherine Essick living with her daughter Mary. Once Mary gets married to James Hagen ca 1867, Catherine lives with them (see notes for James Hagen).

The 1860 Federal Census for Phoenixville, Chester Co., PA, page 693 records Catherine Essick (57 - PA) with daughter Mary Essick (19 - PA). Catherine is a washer and Mary is a spooler in a mill. They are listed some 25 pages over from Mary's future husband, James Hagen (who is listed on page 668).

Catherine married Jacob Essick (Essig), son of Living and Living, in 1817 in Chester Co., PA. (Jacob Essick (Essig) was born on 1 Feb 1788 in Montgomery Co., PA. and died on 30 Sep 1852 in Phoenixville, Chester Co., PA..)
