The 1870 Federal Census records a John Frederick living in the City of Eddyville, Columbia Township, Wapello Co., Iowa apparently with Mahala (27-house keeper) and Elsie Ann (22). This is most likely the correct family for Elsie in that apparent future husband Samuel Kavanaugh resides in this same town but more research is needed (June 2004).
Elsie married Samuel L. Kavanaugh, son of John Kavanaugh and Mary A. (Samuel L. Kavanaugh was born about 1850 in Iowa/Ohio and died after 1910.)
