  Research Notes:

James' brother, Ballard Preston Hylton, died at Western State Hospital in Stauton, VA on April 20, 1916. He was born on in 1839 had been there 7 days and the cause of death was lobar Pneumonia. His parents are listed as unknown. He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville, VA on April 26, 1916. His grave marker indictates he served as a Pvt. in Co. A, 24th Va. Inf. Regt. and was born August 18, 1939. His wife, Sarah Ellen Hylton, is buried there as well. She was born Aug 26, 1841 and died Nov 13, 1925.

Another brother, Sparrel L Hylton served in the 24th as well.
