The 1880 Federal Census for Virginia, Halifax Co., Birch Creek, Distrcit 113 records Archer P. (30 - VA) and wife Sarah (17 - NC) Glidewell farming. Archer is reported to have Measles.

The 1910 Federal Census for Danville, Va. (ED#15, page 4A) records A. P. Glidewell and family living at 647 Colquohoun Street. A. P. is a listed as a house carpenter, married 30 years with 10 children, all still living. Edmond is a gas fitter for the city while most of the other children (15 and older) work in a cigar or cigerette factory: A. P. (58 - NC) and Sarah (47 - NC) Glidewell with children Maud (27 - VA), Edward T. (25 - VA), Paul C. (22 - NC), George W. (21 - NC), Florence (18 - NC), Bessie (17 - NC), James (15 - NC), Emma (13 - NC), and Pattie (11 - NC).

The 1920 Federal Census for Danville Ward 1, Virginia, District 30, page 48A, dated January 7, 1920 records the widower A. P. Glidewell (56 - NC) living with married son, E. T. Glidewell (38 - NC) at 639 Berryman Street. (see notes on his wife Sarah Glidwell for 1930 census facts) Also in the household is W. C. Goodman (28 - NC) and his wife Emma (23 - (A.P.'s daughter) and their children Evelyn May (1 11/12 - VA) and A. P.'s daughter, Florence (26 - NC). [No idea why A. P. and E. T.'s wives are not listed and Florence is listed as a Goodman and single.] The occupations are hard to read but it looks as though E. T. is a Plumber and W. C. is a machinist for the rail road.

Archer married Sarah Monroe Jones, daughter of James M. Jones and Elizabeth Chandler, on 24 Dec 1878. (Sarah Monroe Jones was born on 1 May 1862 in Caswell Co., North Carolina and died after 1930 in Danville, VA.)
