Mary Lorretta Graff
- Born: Apr 1852, Sullivan Co., Pennsylvania
- Marriage: Patrick Joseph Crowley circa 1872 in Pennsylvania
- Died: Cir 1915, Sayre, Bradford Co., PA. at age 63
General Notes:
Patrick Crowley is married to Loretta Graff (Groff) in Cherry Township, Sullivan Co., Pa.
It appears that Loretta is a Graff from Hesse-Darmstadt and her parents are Francis (b ca. 1808) and Elizabeth (b ca. 1808) Gra(o)ff. In the 1870 census they have sons Henry [probably Hannah] (ca 1845 in Pa), Francis (ca 1849- Pa.), and a daughter Loretta (ca 1852-Pa.). The son, Francis, is married to a Lavina in 1880 census record.
Patrick and Loretta's first child, a daughter is named Elizabeth, while the first son is John. The second son is named Francis. Is that a naming convention: first daughter for the wife's mother, first son for the father's dad, second son for the mother's dad?
It is interesting that the 1860 census for Cherry Township, Sullivan Co., PA records Francis and Elizabeth living next door to Peter and Rosanna Murphy. Francis is listed as 52 from Darmsted and a farmer with a last name of Graves. Elizabeth is 52 , also from Darmsted. Children in the household are Hannah (16), Francis (11), and Loretta (8). Peter Murphy is listed as 30 from Ireland and Rosanna is 25 also from Ireland. Their children include Mary (2), and James (6/12).
Mary married Patrick Joseph Crowley circa 1872 in Pennsylvania. (Patrick Joseph Crowley was born circa 1845 in Bantry Bay, Couny Cork, Ireland and died on 26 Jan 1923 in Sayre, Bradford Co., PA..)
