The 1900 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 27 records Elisha F. Norfleet (Mar 1848) with his wife Margaret M. (Nov 1839) and son Charles (April 1876) and daughter Lydia (April 1878). Elisha and Margaret have been married for 31 years and have had 2 children who are both alive ... the birth date for Charles is obviously wrong in that he was alive in the 1870 census.
The 1910 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 12, page 142B, dated April 15, 1910 records the widower Elisha F. Norfleet (63) with his son Charles (40) and daughter Lydia (38). Near by is Bolden R. Doughtie & family ... in 1940 Charles & Lydia will be living with Bolden's son, Wise Carlton Doughtie, & family.
