The 1910 Federal Census for Brassfield Township, Granville Co., NC, District 77, page 38B, dated May 9, 1910 records the widow Mrs. Winnie W. Blackwell (90 - NC/NC/NC) boarding with the family of Abner (51 - NC/NC/NC) and Hattie B. (33 - NC/NC/NC) Newton on Canady Mill Road. Abner and Hattie have been married for 10 years and their children include Marshall W. (8), Joseph C. (5), and James E. (1). Note of interest: Hattie B. Newton is the grand daughter of Phoebe Balckwell whose father, Pomfret Blackwell, was the brother of William Blackwell who was the grand father of Winnie Cook Blackwell's husband, William Blackwell ... you may need to chart that one!!! This does make a family tie for where Winnie is living in 1910. ![]() Winifred married William Marshall Blackwell, son of William Blackwell and Elizabeth (Betsy) Dixon Marshall, circa 1845 in Granville Co., N.C. (William Marshall Blackwell was born on 13 Aug 1813 in North Carolina,1 died on 15 Jul 1894 in Granville Co., N.C. 1 and was buried in Banks Methodist Church Cemetery, Creedmoor, Granville Co., NC.) |
