The 1880 Federal Census for Fishing Creek, Granville Co., North Carolina, District 108, page 586A, dated June 15, 1880 records William M. (66 - NC/NC/NC) and Winifred W. (60 - NC/VA/NC) Blackwell with an adopted son, Joseph B. Cook (20 - TN/NC/TN).
