bullet  General Notes:

The 1820 Federal Census for Nutbush, Granville Co., NC records a William Blackwell (26-45) with 1 male (16-26), 1 male (10-16), and 2 males (under 10) and 1 woman (26-45), 1 female (16-26), 1 female (10-16), and 1 female (under 10). William has 18 slaves.

The 1840 Federal Census for Farr River District, Granville Co., NC records an Elizabeth Blackwell (50-60) as head of a household with 1 male (80-90). This is unusual in that the elder male would normally be listed as head of household. This older male is possibly Elizabeth's father. This was also done in the 1830 census ... perhaps her husband, William, is incapacitated. Next door to Elizabeth is son William (20-30) and his wife (20-30). Elizabeth has 20 slaves while William has 17.
