bullet  General Notes:

John's WWI Draft Registration Card records his occupation as a Rail Road Brakeman and gives a physical description of tall, slender, gray eyes, brown hair. He is single and living at 1327 Locust Street in McKeesport which is his parents' home.

The 1920 Federal Census for McKeesport, Allegheny Co., PA, District 211 (same records in District 212), page 257B (sheet 3B) taken January 1920 records John (25 - PA/Ireland/England) and Mary (22 - PA/PA/PA) Lyons living at 2319 Versailles Ave. John is listed as employed as a brakeman for the Rail Road. This is the correct family for Mary Hagen in that the census was taken in February and daughter Virginia was born in July.

The parents listed in this genealogy, Michael and Catherine Lyons, are taken in 2005 from an ancestry.com family tree by Anne Gault (Grammgault@aol.com). See research notes on John Christopher Lyons.

The Adam Eberly / Edwin Hagen Family Bible records the death of John C. Lyons as Dec 1927 and his marriage to Mary Hagen as Jan 1920. If the marriage date is correct then one can assume that Mary was pregnant when she married John.

An email to Anne Gault (Grammgault@aol.com) dated June 22, 2005:
I just found your posting at ancestry and wanted to ask about Michael Lyons of McKeesport, Allegheny Co., Pa. Specifically if his son, John Christopher Lyons, married Mary Elizabeth Hagen. I know Mary (my great Aunt) married a John Christopher Lyons around 1920 and had two children, Virginia Jean and Margaret Jacqueline. I had not been able to determine if the John C. Lyons of McKeesport was the same John married to Mary Hagen. I recently found the 1920 census that records John married to Mary and they are the right age. Then I found your posting and thought you might be able to answer my question. Your listing indicates most children of Michael are still living and I know that Mary was a widow by 1930.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Bo Hagen

An email from Anne Gault (Grammgault@aol.com) dated June 23, 2005:
I do not have any further data on Michael and Catharine or the child John that you have questions about. I believe that the reason that they are listed as living has more to do with a Rootsweb procedure than with the actual facts. Any one listed with a birthdate and no death date is automatically assumed to be living unless they were born before 1900. My line goes through Catharine Neary's brother John, sorry I can't help. Perhaps searching through death or probate records may help. If anything ever turns up I will contact you.
