Young (48 - VA/VA/VA) and wife, Ida Young (28 - VA/VA/VA), and sons by William's 1st wife, William Young (19) and Drewy Young (14). The 1870 Federal Census for Darvilles, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, Dinwiddie Court House P. O., page 471, dated July 28, 1870 records Leonidas Young (10) living with his father W. D. Young (37 - VA) and who must be his 2nd wife, Ida Young (18), and brothers Willie Young (9) and Drewey Young (3). W. D. is a farmer and has real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate valued at $400 and indicates that he and Ida werre married this past April. Ida is most likely Ida V. Ridd [see note with * below for correction to this conclusion] who in 1860 is living with William D. [the elder] & Elizabeth B. Young: ... The 1860 Federal Census for Darvilles, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, San Marino P. O., page 39, dated August 3, 1860 records William D. (60 - VA) & Elizabeth B. (56 - VA) Young with children Laura E. Young (19 - VA), Oscar J. Young (16 - VA), and Alfraetta S. Young (13 - VA [female]). Also in the household are James B. (30) and Martha E. (20) Young as well as Ida V. Ridd (6 - VA) and James B. Jarrett (52 - VA). James Jarrett has written beside his name: "W. D. Young Committee for James B. Jarratt". William D. Young is a farmer with real estate valued at $4,500 and a personal estate valued at $27,000 including 20 slaves while Mr. Jarratt has a personal estate valued at $4,000. Both Oscar and James have "Idiotic" written in the column headed "Whether deaf and dumb, blind, insane, idiotic, pauper, or convict". Note *: Ida Young is actually the daughter of William and Ann Cox ... the 1880 census (above) has Ann Cox (wife's mother) living with the William and Ida Young family and a Virginia Death Index records Ida Young's death on Jan 15, 1884 in Dinwiddie county and names her parents.
The 1850 Federal Census for Northern District, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, page 456B, dated Sept 7, 1850 records William D. (50 - VA) & Elizabeth B. (47 - VA) Young with children John E. Young (26 - VA), Wm. W. Young (18 - VA), Rebecca E. Young (17 - VA), Mary L. Young (14 - VA), Laura E. Young (11 - VA), Oscar J. Young (7 - VA), and Alfarata S. Young (3 - VA [female]).

The 1860 Federal Census for Revenue District 2, Dinwiddie Co., VA, Petersburg P. O., page 80, dated July 1860 records Sally C. Young (52) with her children Edwin Young (17) and Aldolphus Young (13) ... also in the household is John E. Kirkham (3). Sally is a farmer with real estate valued at $7,500 and a personale estate valued at $17,115. It appears that Edward Young has died and his son, William, is living with John F. Young, perhaps William's uncle: The 1860 Federal Census for Revenue District 2, Dinwiddie Co., VA, Dinwiddie C. H. P. O., page 70, dated June 28, 1860 records William D. Young (25 - VA) living with John F. Young (48 - VA). Also in the household are Mary H. Young (23 - VA), Sarah Young (25 - VA) and Edwin Young(1). Perhaps Sarah is William's wife and Edwin his son, named for his father. Perhaps this Edwin and Leonidas are one in the same. Mary is John's young wife in that the 1870 census records John F. (55) and Mary H. (31) Young together with real estate valued at $3,000 and a personal estate valued at $998. In 1860 John has real estate valued at $9,000 and a personal estate valued at $17,100 including 34 slaves while William has no value in real estate but a personal estate valued at $2,300 including 2 slaves.
