The 1940 Federal Census for Dan River, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 72-20, page 273B, dated April 8, 1940 records Spurgeon E. (35) and Eva H. (36) Ford living along Route 29 near the intersection with Road 716. Spurgeon is employed as a Patrolman Help for the State Highway earning $850 working 52 weeks during the last year while Eva is an Inspector at the Sewing Room of the Cotton Mill earning $675 working 38 weeks during the last year.

Blairs - Eva Hagood Ford, 95, Route 29, died Friday, Nov. 24, 1995 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home after a one week stay. She had been in declining health for two years.
Born June 30, 1900, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Auguston Hagood and Julia Ann Evans Hagood.
In 1934 she married Eddie Spurgeon Ford, who died May 20, 1993.
She lived her entire life in the Pittsylvania County area and retired from Dan River Inc.
She was a member of Blairs Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for years.
Survivors include a son, Elson Ford of Blairs; and two grandchildren.

Eva married Eddie Spurgeon Ford on 28 Jul 1934 in Lynchburg, Campbell Co., VA. (Eddie Spurgeon Ford was born on 13 Feb 1905 in Chestnut Level, Pittsylvania Co., VA, died on 20 May 1993 in Danville City, (Pittsylvania Co.), Virginia and was buried in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.)
