Harry Earl Yocom Jr., 87, of Laureldale went to be with the Lord on Feb.8, 2012 at the Promised Land Farm, his son's Millersville residence.
He was the husband of Alethia Cleaver (Krecker) Yocom who preceded him in death on July 2, 2006.
Born April 6, 1924, in Reading, he was a son of the late Harry Earl Sr. and Martha Marie (Schaeffer) Yocom.
Harry was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School and a 1947 graduate of Penn State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and was a member of the varsity Ice Hockey team.
He was employed as a professional engineer with Gilbert Associates, Reading, for 41 years, retiring in 1989. He was a project manager for the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Power Plant in Columbia, SC.
Harry was a member of Hopewell Mennonite Church, Reading, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Gideons International.
He also served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WWII. While there, he served in Okinowa as a 1st Lieutenant. He also was a member of Reading Radio Club, KB3-LOG where he was a radio operator.
Harry played the trumpet in three bands. Those bands include Senior Citizen's Orchestra, Reading Phil Harmonic Band and Bass and Praise. He also played the trumpet in his worship team at church.
He loved fishing, hiking, and family.
Harry was predeceased by a sister, F. Arlene Haas.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
