The 1900 United States Federal Census, Virginia, Pittsylvania Co. (Dan River, District 77, page 29B, dated June 19, 1900) records Henry J. Dodson (Sept 1851 - VA/VA/VA) with wife Lucy M. (Sept 1864 - Ohio/France/France) and children Henry O. (Jan 1882), George W. (June 1887), Emma M. (Aug 1888), Janie R. (Oct 1889), Alvin B. (May 1891), Edgar R. (July 1892), Howard C. (Sept 1894), Vivian G. (Dec 1895), Lucy E. (July 1897), Fannie E. (Dec 1898), and unnamed daughter (Apr 1900). Henry and Lucy have been amrried for 13 years and have ahd 11 children of whom 10 are still living. Henry is a Farmer.

Henry and family are listed in the 1910 Virginia Census for Pittsylvania Co., Va. (ED#94, page 15A, visit 186). The names are very hard to read, but it appears that his wife is Lucy M.

The 1920 United States Federal Census for the Dan River District, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 150, page 216B, dated February 12, 1920 records Henry J. Dodson (69 - VA/VA/VA) with wife Alice C. Dodson (54 - VA/VA/VA) and son Edgar R. Dodson (27) and grandson Arthur Dodson (12). Henry is a Farmer. Next door is a son, Alvin B. Dodson (28) and his wife Irene Dodson (24) and their daughter, Irene C. Dodson (2/12).

The 1930 United States Federal Census for the Dan River District, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 17, page 216B, dated February 12, 1930 records Henry Dodson (78 - VA/VA/VA) with wife Cornelia Dodson (63 - VA/VA/VA) and single daughter Eva F. Dodson (28). Henry is a Farmer who was first married at age 22 while Cornelia was first married at age 15.

The 1940 United States Federal Census for the Dan River District, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, District 72-25, page 342B, dated April 3, 1940 records the widower Henry J. Dodson (88 - VA) living with his son Oscar Dodson (55 - VA) and his wife Hilda O. Dodson (45 - England) and Henry's daughter, Eva Dodson (38 - VA) along Rte 734. Oscar is a Building Contractor.
