My grandmother was Mary (Nannie) Smith. Honestly, she never spoke about family life. I know they were on a farm, tobacco, Eliza [Nannie's mother] was Southern Baptist and a very generous woman. When my grandmother left VA, I think she regretted that, her life changed. She married a Harry or Henry Lee Smith. He was born in Allegheny Co. PA. He died when his car went off a mountain road and landed on railroad tracks. He sold insurance door to door. There is absolutely no record of him anywhere. She remarried a Waskowski from the Cleveland, OH area. My mom and her sister are from her first marriage. It was not a happy time for my mom, aunt or grandmother.
My direct Smith line goes to Virginia Smith (Mom), Mary Smith, George Smith and Eliza, Ralph and Adennie Smith then George K. Smith and Susan Adkins. After that the line is fuzzy. There is information saying Jabez Smith is George K's dad and other information saying George Smith is his dad. Am waiting for some PERSI information about George Smith. Hope it is what I need. Mrs. Anderson has George Kendrick Smith and that his parent's are Jabez Smith and a Kendrick.

The 1943 Cleveland City Directory lists Mary Waskowski (wid Walter) h 3691 E63d
Interesting to note that Walter's death certificate records his surname as
WASZKOWSKI, Walter, Death date: 6/15/1935, Cuyahoga County, Volume #7845, Certificate #35744
