The 1870 Federal Census for Pittston Borough, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, page 358A records a Jacob Goudy born ca. 1828. This is probably our Jacob in that his occupation is "carpentering". He is single and living in the home of William (39 - Ireland) and Catherine (31 - Ireland) O'Malley.

During the Civil War, Jacob served as a Pvt in Co. G, 201st PA Infantry from Aug 24, 1864 to June 23, 1865 enlisting at Harrisburg, PA.
