bullet  General Notes:

The 1850 Federal Census of Eastpennsborough in Cumberland County, PA, page 391A, dated August 7, 1850 records Samuel Goudy (55 - PA) with wife Ann (47 - PA) and children William (25 - PA), Jacob (21 - PA), Nancy Jane (14 - PA), John (10 - PA), Susanna (8 - PA), and Catherine (6 - PA). Next door is another daughter, Sarah (24 - PA), recently married to Samuel Cremer (26 - PA) (aka Creamer/Cramer). They have a son, George W. Cremmer (1 - PA). Samuel Goudy is a carpenter and Samuel Cramer is a Stone Mason. The previous page of the census records Elvira Goudy (3) (indexed as Elera Gundy at ancestry) living in the household that includes David (56 - Germany) and Catherine (45) Neathammer, John Nininger (55 - Germany) and Mary Neathammer (18 - PA). Elvira is the daughter of Samuel and Anna Goudy as indicated by her death certificate ... see medical notes on Elvirda Goudy. In 1870, the widowed Anna Goudy will be living with a married Elvira Shatter (Shatto). See general notes on Anna M. Aker Goudy.

The 1840 Federal Census for Monahan Township, York Co., Pennsylvania records Samuel Goudy (40-50) with a wife (30-40) and 1 son and a daughter (under 5), 1 daughter (5-10), 3 sons and a daughter (10-15), 2 sons (15-20). Next to his name is "Capr"...which could mean carpenter. The 1850 census in neighboring Cumberland Co., PA records a Samuel Goudy with an occupation of "Carpenter" and there are no Samuel Goudys listed in York in that census. Apparently the Samuel Goudy family moved to Cumberland County sometime during the 1840s.

The 1830 Federal Census for Monahan Township, York Co., Pennsylvania, (page 274) records Samuel Goudy (30-40) with a wife (20-30), 2 sons (under 5), 3 sons (5-10), and 1 daughter (under 5). Monahan Township borders along Cumberland County. Warrington Township is just below Monahan Township in York. Of course, Warrington is where the Cramer family lived before moving into Cumberland County. Sarah Goudy married Samuel Cramer in about 1848.
