The 1900 Federal Census for Reynoldson Township, Gates Co., North Carolina, District 47 records Thomas T. (April 1866-VA/Mississippi/VA) and Grace V. (May 1867-VA/VA/VA) Jenkins with children John F. (April 1898) and Emma H. (Dec 1899). Thomas indicates his father is from Mississippi, however, earlier census records list his birth location as South Carolina.
The 1910 Federal Census for Windsor Township, Isle of Wight Co., Virginia, District 5, page 190A, dated April 28, 1910 records Thomas T. (40) and Grace V. (38) Jenkins with children John F. (12), Hattie E. (10), Thomas R. (8), Mary E. (7), Tillman T. (3), Theophilus (3), and Samuel (1 2/12). The family moved back to Virginia around 1904 and all members of the family list their (as well as their parents) place of birth as Virginia (which is not correct). Tom and Grace have had 7 children all of which are still living.
The 1920 Federal Census for Windsor Township, Isle of Wight Co., Virginia, District 5, records the widow Grace V. Jenkins (52 - VA) with children Thomas R. (18-NC), Elizabeth (15 - VA), Tilman T. (13 - VA), Theophilus D. (13 - VA), and Samuel F. (10 - VA) living on the Carrsville Road. The family moved back to Virginia around 1904.
