ISLE OF WIGHT - Eva Rhodes Butler, 90, died Sept. 23, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County, a retired teacher and owner of Lake Butler Campground.
She was the daughter of the late Rubert Rawlston Rhodes and Geneva Lewis Rhodes.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John T. Butler; and two brothers, Rawlston Rhodes and Jett Rhodes.
She was a former member of Colosse Baptist Church, after marriage, became a member of Woodland United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Windsor High School and Farmville State Teachers College (Longwood University). She taught in Westhaven School in Portsmouth, Va., and after marriage, Isle of Wight County School.
A celebration of life will be conducted by the Rev. Michael W. Harrington Sr. and the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr., at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow in Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, at the funeral home, and other times at her residence.
