General Notes:
In an email from Mike Hodges in July 2005: My Dad [Bobby Wayne Hodges] and Uncle Clyde [Hodges] remembered Lydia (Lillie), and both say she was full-blooded Cherokee. However, I could not find any confirmation of this. But since they knew her, I have no reason to doubt the info.
This researcher notes: The above, of course, means that Lydia's parents were both Cherokee and to date can find no documents supporting that claim.
Lydia Harris first married Giles W. Jones of Rockingham Co. during the War Between the States. After Giles died during the war, she married Joseph Lovelace ... see marriage notes.
Lydia married Joseph George Lovelace, son of John William Lovelace and Martha Ann Harris, on 13 Jan 1866 in Rockingham Co., NC. (Joseph George Lovelace was born in Dec 1859 in Mayo Township, Rockingham Co., N.C. and died circa 1901 in Leakesville, Rockingham Co., N.C..)
