bullet  General Notes:

The 1860 Federal Census for Walls Store P. O., Jefferson Township, Johnson Co., Missouri page 1038 (315) dated Sept 15, 1860 records Richard B. (33 - NC) and Nancy (30 - Tenn) Fewell with children Orlando (9 - Missouri), Harriet (7 - Missouri), Henry (5 - Missouri), Richard (3 - Missouri), and Mason (9/12 - Missouri) living next door to the Garrett clan. Richard is rather wealthy with real estate valued at $12,000 and a personal estate of $15,800 including 15 slaves.

The 1870 Federal Census for Warrensburg P. O., Post Oak Township, Johnson Co., Missouri, page 577B records Richard (44) and Nancy (40) Fewel (sic) with children Orlando (19), Hetty (17), Henry (15), Mason (10), Mary (8 - Arkansas), Green (5 - Texas), and McCellan (3). It appears that Richard and family moved away from the area during the Civil War, probably to get away from the terrible upheaval and conflict that the people remaining in Missouri had to endure. Richard was a rather wealthy farmer with real estate valued at $19,500 and a personal estate at $4,500.
