  General Notes:

According to son, Bob Hill, in a 1999 interview, Robert Massie had three or four sisters. It appears; however, that Robert Massie actually had three brothers and one sister who dies young.

In a Feb 8, 2002 posting at genforum.genealogy.com, Tiffany Massie-Shriver wrote: "My father was Robert Carroll Massie born May 22, 1916 and I believe he grew up in Ironton, OH. That is where he is buried. I know that he had at least one brother named Earl Massie and he died approximately 1991. I know my grandmother's name was Ann or Anna. If anyone has any information that would help me find some of family, please reply." A reply at the forum was made July 13, 2004 but to date, there has been no response. Efforts to contact Tiffany by email indicate a dead email address. Until .....
I made contact with Tiffany Ann Massie-Shriver tonight, Aug. 26, 2004. She had much to tell about her father, Robert Carroll Massie. They lived in Myrtle Beach/Baltimore/West Virgina ... "moved a lot". "Dad was a bookie and brought money home where I learned to count by counting the cash." At some point, Robert served time in the penitentiary for conterfiting. Tiffany was born 5 days after Robert married her mom, Peggy Burke. Before Peggy, Robert was married to a beautician, Rita Pinkman. They had two children, Robert Lawrence and Rita. Both are currently practicing attorneys in West Virginia.

Resarch on the family of Robert Massie indicates that his father was Willard S. Massie, who was "adopted" by Denison and Nancy Ann Haskins Massie ... see general notes on Denison Massie.
