The 1850 Federal Census for Marietta, Lancaster Co., PA, page 406B records George (60-PA) and Elizabeth (64-PA) Cummings with son Thomas (21). Next door is Eli Cummings (25) and his wife, Mary (20). Thomas is listed as a tailor and Eli a Shoemaker. George has no listing for his "Profession, Occupation, or Trade". Just three pages over in the census record is the future wife of Thomas Cummings: Susan Waller and her family. The 1850 Federal Census for Marietta, Lancaster Co., PA, page 405A records John Waller (40-Germany) and other Waller family members: Sarah (28-PA), Daniel (20), Frederick (16), Susan (14), John (12), Leonard (10), Sarah (8), George (5), and Catherine (3). John is a Constable and Daniel a Cooper.

The 1860 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Lancaster Co., PA, North West Ward, page 449A records Thomas (33 - PA) and Susan (24 - PA) Cummings with children George B. (4) and Warren P. (3). Also in the household are Susan's sisters: Catharine Waller (13) and Emma Waller (7). Thomas is a Photographer. It is of interest that Frederick Waller is now married and his brother Leonard Waller is living with the family remaining in Marietta, Lancaster, PA. No other "Wallers" can be located.

The 1870 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Lancaster Co., PA, Ward 1, page 8A records Thomas (43 - PA) and Susan (34 - PA) Cummings with children Byron G. (14), Warren P. (12), and Chester (9). Also in the household are Elizabeth Cummings (85 - PA) and Eli Cummings (44) and Emma F. Woller (17) [This is Emma Waller, sister of Susan Waller Cummings]. Eli is a Shoemaker while Thomas and Emma are Photographers.

The 1880 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Lancaster Co., PA, District 146, page 8A records Chester Cummiings (19) living with his parents Thomas (53 - PA/PA/PA) and Susan (44 - PA/Wurtenberg/PA) Cummings and brother Byron Cummings (24) and Byron's wife Mary (24) and their daughter Billa (3) at 41 West Chester Street. Also in the household is Eli Cummings (55). Eli and Thomas are Photographers.
