Blanche M. Lewis obituary
Blanche Mann Lewis, 96, of Spotsylvania County passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Hughes Home.

Mrs. Lewis was a charter member of Grace Memorial Church. She was also a member of Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg senior citizen groups and American Legion Post 55 Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, cooking and working in the garden. She and her late husband of 68 years, Charles E. Lewis, liked raising vegetables and giving them to shut-ins, family and friends. They were known for their big white turnips. She dearly loved all her family and they loved her very much.

Survivors include her son, C. Fielding Lewis of Spotsylvania; her three daughters, Myrna L. Kelly and husband Arthur K. Kelly of Chesterfield, Cynthia L. Chilton and husband Gilbert L. "Jake" Chilton of Spotsylvania and Debby L. Creech and husband Johnny V. Creech of Fredericksburg; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Philip S. Lewis.

A service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 18, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Harlan E. White officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.

Grandsons and great- grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407, or to Grace Memorial Church Building Fund, 1600 Stafford Ave. Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

The family thanks Mary Washington Hospice and Hughes Home for their loving and compassionate care.
