Grace G. Nelson, age 86, of 2628 Elmwood Avenue, and formerly of 1017 West 33rd Street, Erie, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Hamot Medical Center.
She was born in Erie on September 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Edna Halter Overcash.
She was a graduate of Wesleyville High School Class of 1937.
Prior to her marriage she had been employed at the Boston Store and had also worked at Hamot Medical Center and Lord Corporation.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Anna Circle. She was also a member of Young at Heart, E.L.C.A. and she was an avid bridge player.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne E. Nelson in October, 1985, and two sisters, Anna Camp, and Clara "Dessie" Boettiger, both of Erie.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra J. Nelson and her husband Robert A., of Erie and Cheryl R. Griffis and her husband Lee C., of Mechanicsville, VA. Further survived by two grandchildren Matthew and Jonathan Griffis and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street, Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Tuesday at 11 AM.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Center for the Blind, 2402 Cherry Street, Erie PA 16502, Presbyterian Lodge Caring for Life, 2628 Elmwood Avenue, Erie PA 16508 or the charity of one's choice.

Grace married LaVerne E. Nelson. (LaVerne E. Nelson was born on 3 Oct 1909, died in Oct 1985 in Erie Co., Pennsylvania and was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Mill Creek Township, Erie Co., PA.)
