See general notes on his father and his wife for 1900 census facts ... John is just 2 pages over from his future wife, Grace Thistle, in the 1900 census record. Grace Thistle is named the wife of "John M. Cramer" (son of Levier Cramer) in the 1919 History of Custer County, Nebraska by Gastons & Humphreys. Census records indicate John was married to a Mary E., moved to the state of Washington, divorced, and moved back to Broken Bow, Nebraska. Perhaps John was married and divorced twice???:

The 1910 Federal Census for Bellingham, Ward 4, Whatcom Co., Washington, District 331 records John (31 - Illinois/PA/PA) and Mary E. (28 - Nebraska) Cramer with children Dorothy (8 - Nebraska) and Dwight (3 - Nebraska). John and Mary report being married for 10 years and having 2 children. John works at odd jobs.

While I have not found John Cramer in the 1920 census I have found his daughter, Dorothy Cramer living with her uncle in Broken Bow, Custer Co., Nebraska ... see notes on Frank Cramer.

The 1930 Fedeal Census for Broken Bow, Custer Co., Nebraska, District 9, page 75A, dated April 14, 1930 records a divorced John W. Cramer (50 - Nebraska/PA/PA) living with his divorced daughter, Dorothy L. Ivers (27 - Nebraska/Nebraska/Nebraska) and her daughter, Laverne Ivers (5 - ND/Nebraska/Nebraska). Also in the household is Dorothy's brother, Dwight W. Cramer (22 - Nebraska/Nebraska/Nebraska). Dorothy is a housekeeper for a private family, John is a trucker, and Dwight is a highway laborer.

The obituary for John Cramer was listed in the Arnold Sentinel on 06/07/1934. He was age 54 and death was by suicide in Broken Bow.

John married Grace M. Thistle circa 1902 in Nebraska. (Grace M. Thistle was born on 26 May 1883 in Nebraska and died in Oct 1963.)
